Curved Dress

Adapted from an Issey Miyake design, this contemporary style bears the Japanese master’s idiosyncratic signature. The fit is that of an empire dress: Fits at bust and leaves the body at high waist, unfurling into a full skirt. However, the seams are all diagonally vertical, making it oh so flattering to all plus size figure types. The longer version is waltz length in front and touches the ground in back, although many brides have customized it for ankle length in front and slight train effect in back. The short version is just below knee length in front and calf length in back. Sleeves can be long, as shown, elbow or cape. This amazing dress lends itself to an almost infinite selection of fabrics, but is at its best those that move and flow. All figure types.
